Margaret Finch - Solicitor & Director
Margaret qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and has worked full-time in the immigration & asylum field ever since. She has a wide-ranging caseload, but her main focus has always been asylum and in particular attempting to right wrongs perpetrated by the UK asylum system. Margaret is an English graduate who undertook legal training following several years' working abroad, in the Israeli-occupied territories and Switzerland. She qualified as a solicitor specifically in order to undertake immigration and asylum work.
Sean Mcloughlin - Solicitor & Director
Sean has been working in the immigration and asylum law field since 1997 and qualified as a solicitor in 1999. Sean's caseload includes a broad range of asylum, national security and human rights cases. Sean has recently been involved in leading human rights cases in the House of Lords, concerning family life rights. Other cases Sean undertakes include entry clearance applications and appeals, nationality applications and applications for further leave to remain in the UK. In 2008, Sean was shortlisted as a finalist for the Legal Aid Immigration Lawyer of the Year Award.
Andrea Muckley - Solicitor
Andrea chose to specialise in asylum, immigration and human rights law after an immigration law elective during her law degree. She has worked in the field since 2004 and qualified as a solicitor in 2006, joining TRP in July 2010 following a period as Team Leader at Refugee and Migrant Justice in Birmingham. Over the past few years Andrea has advocated the rights of migrants in a number of settings including sitting on the Evaluation Board of the Solihull Pilot and speaking at a fringe meeting at the Liberal Democrats’ 2010 spring conference.
Fahad Ansari - Solicitor
Fahad was admitted as a solicitor in 2009 having completed his training at Fisher Meredith LLP and Birnberg Peirce and Partners. Fahad holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law and has an extensive human rights campaigning background, having worked with the Islamic Human Rights Commission and Cageprisoners. Fahad has been a member of fact-finding missions to post-war Lebanon and Gaza and was invited to present his findings at a parallel panel discussion at the Human Rights Council of the UN Economic and Social Council. Fahad is a freelance writer and has authored a number of articles and reports in relation to issues of international human rights, discrimination and anti-terrorism legislation.
Mandeep Duhra - Solicitor
Mandeep qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and has worked in immigration law since 1999. Mandeep has led the immigration departments of two local law firms and joined TRP in April 2008 in order to develop our private client department. Mandeep has a varied caseload, including entry clearance applications and appeals, EEA cases, business applications and work permits. Mandeep has lived and worked in Malawi and is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi.
Tim Shotton - Solicitor
Tim joined TRP in 2004, having practised as a solicitor since 1996 and having worked in the legal advice sector since 1983. He is a recognised specialist in asylum support issues and immigration-related welfare benefits matters, having had many years' experience advising in the areas of housing, welfare benefits and community care. Tim's work includes substantive immigration and asylum cases. Tim's presence here greatly enhances TRP's ability to offer specialist and comprehensive advice to clients on the problems that arise in connection with support and benefits issues in immigration and asylum cases.
Aliya Khan - Legal Executive
Aliya is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) and qualified in 2007. She is the author of the "Employing Foreign Nationals" chapter in the Workplace Law Handbook. She has attended as a guest speaker at Aston University providing expertise on the Points Based System. She has vast knowledge of the Points Based System, asylum and human rights work, entry clearance applications, EEA Law and Judicial Review. Aliya joined TRP in 2011 having worked for 8 years at Tyndallwoods Solicitors. She can speak fluent Pushto.
Andrew Frost - Senior Caseworker
Andrew has worked in the legal field for over 5 years, initially in civil litigation but mostly doing asylum and immigration work. Andrew worked as a Caseworker and latterly Senior Caseworker at Refugee and Migrant Justice for 3 years before joining TRP in September 2010. Andrew's main focus is on asylum work. Andrew has a degree in History and International Politics from Keele University, a Masters degree in Post Soviet politics from the London School of Economics and studied Law at Birmingham City University.
Jonathan Collinson - Casework Assistant
Jonathan studied Law at Durham University and took courses in international law, human rights, gender and sexuality, and Islam. After conducting work experience with TRP in 2010 he realised that his background was drawing him to a future in immigration and asylum law. He was made a full time member of TRP staff in May 2011. He assists other members of the staff team in their work.
Rashpal Seehra - Personal Assistant to Margaret Finch
Rashpal has been a legal secretary/PA for 16 years, working mostly in the field of immigration/asylum law. Rashpal and Yvonne Harvey (below) have co-ordinated TRP's administrative support since the firm opened. Rashpal is fluent in Punjabi.
Yvonne Harvey - Personal Assistant to Sean Mcloughlin
Yvonne has been a legal secretary/PA for 24 years and is well-versed in the often complex and difficult circumstances that arise in immigration and asylum work.
Melanie Reynolds - Legal Secretary
Melanie is an Associate Member of the Institute of Legal Executives, who has worked as a legal secretary and as a paralegal for more than seven years. Melanie has an extensive knowledge of asylum and immigration law, through her previous work as a qualified Immigration Caseworker.
Simon Williams - Receptionist & Senior Administrator
Simon joined TRP in 2005. Simon has over 12 years administrative and customer service experience, mainly in the retail and leisure industries. He recently took a year out to pursue his interests in film-making and writing.
Gary Jordan - Book-keeper
Gary has been with TRP since it was set up in 2003.
